The new COLABORATIVE PIANO course of study in the second cycle Master's degree programmes in Musical Arts and Instrumental and Vocal Education aims to achieve the highest standards and professional level of piano accompaniment. The field of study is particularly broad and allows each student to develop his or her own repertoire of solo, chamber and orchestral music from all periods, including contemporary music. Through intensive individual practice, group work in orchestras and chamber ensembles, it guides students to develop professional competences and a rich artistic personality.
The course is primarily aimed at pianists who wish to train in:
- collaborative pianist in recitals, international instrumentalist competitions or in singing and instrumental lessons;
- collaborative pianist at a music academy or university, conservatoire, music school, etc.;
- teacher of collaborative piano, a vista playing, playing in an ensemble;
- soloist in a contemporary music ensemble or pianist in an orchestra;
- pianist in choirs, collaboration with conductors, etc.;
- playing from orchestral scores, arranging (in conducting lessons, transcription work, opera premiere preparations, etc.);
- pianist-accompanist for ballet dancers.
Methods of study include:
- study and performance of sonata literature for all instruments,
- developing the communication skills necessary for effective and efficient rehearsal with instrumentalists,
- guidance towards accomplished performances,
- study of orchestral excerpts,
- comparison of different editions,
- reviewing complete orchestral scores and discussing the possibilities of realisation on the piano,
- ways of imitating and recreating orchestral sounds on the piano,
- piano accompaniment of opera,
- piano accompaniment of singers in staged productions,
- accompaniment of arias, recitatives, ensemble pieces and complete operas,
- re-creation of orchestral elements of the score.
